Carlson Survey is the classic win-win for the small survey and
engineering firm. Though AutoCAD is the dominant CAD software for
civil engineering and surveying, it is sometimes beyond the reach of
smaller companies, particularly when each work station must have a
separate AutoCAD license. To compete, some software companies have
attempted to offer lower cost non-AutoCAD solutions that will read
and write AutoCAD drawings only through the cumbersome DXF transfer.
